Raise your hand if you love a good at-home facial. (Hand raised!) There’s nothing quite like having your skin feel fresh and rejuvenated before an important meeting or night out – it instantly increases my confidence. Plus, I use face masks as part of my regular skincare regimen to promote cell-turnover for clearer, smoother skin. My favorite face masks are ones that remove dead skin and leave my skin feeling supple and renewed. I can always tell a difference in my skin after I apply a face mask, so I try to apply at least once a week – but ideally, twice a week. Here are three face masks that I LOVE for promoting soft, glowing and even-toned skin:
Aztec Indian Healing Clay
My sister learned about Aztec Indian Healing Clay a couple of years ago from a 70 year-old woman who attributed her fresh, young-looking skin to years of applying this as a mask. So, we were sold! You mix the powder clay with a little bit of water before applying to your skin. It hardens and becomes really tingly as it extracts the impurities from your skin. You can actually feel your skin pulsate under the mask! When you remove the mask, your skin is slightly red, but smooth and firm. And, if I’m having a breakout, it is always improved the day after I use the mask. The back of the jar says Cleopatra used the clay mask in her beauty ritual in ancient Egypt, and I understand why! I have problem skin and my sister has perfect skin, but we both experience awesome benefits from this mask. You can buy a one-pound jar from Whole Foods for $6 or a two-pound container through Amazon Prime for $16.
IT WORKS Exfoliating Peel
I’ve been using the IT WORKS Exfoliating Peel for two months and have been really impressed by it. I experienced softer, glowing skin after my first time using it! It removes dead skin and debris from the skin so all that’s left on your skin is a natural, healthy glow. Seriously, I just love how my face looks so squeaky clean after I apply this peel. I had a couple of recent pimples that left red-colored marks on my cheek, but this peel is slowly erasing those imperfections.
And, don’t let the word “peel” scare you. This product is totally pain-free, and you just wash it off when you’re done – no actual peeling necessary. A one-ounce bottle of IT WORKS Exfoliating Peel is $36. (Feel free to ask questions to or purchase through my IT WORKS guru, Leah!)
Epionce Enriched Firming Mask
I use the Epionce Enriched Firming Mask when my skin is feeling thirsty. This mask hydrates the skin, leaving it feeling firm and packed full of moisture. Oh, and did I mention soft? Because this mask makes your skin feel baby soft. It also calms the skin, reducing redness and irritation – which is a factor I love since my skin can be tricky. My dermatologist told me you can leave this mask on overnight, but I usually stick to just 20 minutes. A 2.5 ounce container of the Epionce Enriched Firming Mask is $38.
